Actaea racemosa is a plant from the ranunculus family. Native to central and eastern North America, black cohosh grows in rainforest.

 

Black cohosh root has always been used by Native Americans in various plants to provide health benefits. Black cohosh root, named for its black, curly rhizome, is typically made from tea or extract.

 

Black cohosh is a flowering plant that grows in many parts of Canada and the United States. It grows in ancient coastal forests and areas of abundant biodiversity. Most of the world's black cohosh are raised and cultivated in the United States and Canada. The plant grows between 3 and 6 feet tall and has small clusters of white flowers on its stems. The best roots are harvested in July and September.
