Bladderwrack is ground from Fucus vesiculosus, a species of brown algae that collects along the Atlantic coast. The name Bladderwrack comes from the tally, or "bladder," which fills the air with algae to keep it afloat. This special seaweed powder is rich in iodine and can be included in cooking and spices. Bladderwrack powder can also be used in body care foods.
Bladderwrack is also called dyer’s focus, red focus, and rockwrack. It is a member of the Fucaceae family.
